Massage Minute #44

Do not confuse impatience with thirst. With thirst there is a yearning but no struggle; with impatience there is struggle but no yearning. With longing there is waiting but no demanding; with impatience there is demanding but no waiting. With thirst there are silent tears; with impatience there is restless struggle.
Truth cannot be raided; it is attained through surrender not through struggle. It is conquered through total surrender.
-Osho (1931- 1990)

The human form was designed in such a way, so that we can not pat our own backs or are able to kick our own behinds. These activities are best reserved for others.

Chi Vampires! Forget garlic, find out how to use rubber bands & the coffee filter method to protect yourself from the clutches of these undesirable patients. This article covers techniques ranging from visualizations, breathing techniques & meditations to Aromatherapy, stones and sage.

This one should be printed and shared with co-workers. Don’t forget to refer them to the website!!

Too little basic massage curricula focuses on practice building and marketing. I’ve met with many LMTs who want to brainstorm their ‘full-proof’ marketing ideas. Most of these ideas are creative and original. However, the process of achieving these goals are often thwarted by lack of process and correct mindset.

This is the article I wish I had written for the basic students. Unfortunately (or fortunately), someone beat me to it. There are some great ‘nuggets’ in this article...even a little wisdom. Enjoy.

I’d like to send out a special thanks to Dan Towey, a local practitioner and assistant educator of CRT, for gracing the Massage Minute with this exclusive report.

The article is a thorough overview of this up and coming cranial modality. CRT promises to be a veritable shotgun technique that takes the guess work out of establishing homeostasis via the cranio-sacral system. Check out the link on Cranio Dural Stress Syndrome - Great info!

Last, but not least, here is the second installment of our series on Deep Tissue by Art Riggs. Never one to disappoint, this second piece is chock full of great advice, anecdotes and techniques. I am the owner of both the new revised edition of his book and his DVD series.

Before you run out and buy them, know that IT&B will be running a raffle for over $400 worth of educational material (including Riggs’ text) in October in honor of Massage Awareness Month!!
